Opera, Operetta, Musicals, Concerts ...
Only the repertoire of the Vienna State Opera offers around 50 operas and 20 balletts each season. The Volksoper offers around 30 operas, operettas, musicals and balletts each season. Then there are the musical stages of Vienna where some of the most known musicals have been born like 'Dance of the Vampires' or 'Elisabeth'. The Konzerthaus and the Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Numerous concerts that take place in different locations regularly.

But you can find also modern music in Vienna - rock, pop, etc. When planing a tour, most of the big stars will not leave Vienna aside. One of the top events is the festival on the Danube Island each year in june with approximately 2,4 mio. attendants and concerts on 30 stages during 3 days, meaning 600 hours of free open-air concerts.

Theater, Cabaret ...
The Burgtheater is the Austrian national theater. On this stage and on those of the Akademietheater, of the Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz and of the Vestibül, there are more than 800 performances each season. Beside the famous classics of Shakespeare, Schiller, Goethe, Nestroy, Grillparzer and others, the Burgtheater is appreciated also for its huge repertoire of plays by contemporary writers like Thomas Bernhard or Elfriede Jelinek. Other well known theaters are the Volkstheater, the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Kammerspiele.

There are many cabaret stages in Vienna, like the Metropol or the Kulisse. Well known representatives of the excellent Austrian cabaret scene are amon others Andreas Vitasek, Michael Niavarani, Viktor Gernot and Roland Düringer.
