Meetingpoint of Vienna
The big square and the park in front of the Vienna City hall are regularly used for big events of different kinds. During winter the "Viennese Icedream" takes place here, a huge artificial ice rink where you can skate on iced lanes through the park. In spring there is the big open-air opening concert of the Vienna festival weeks.
The Summer open-air festival
Very popular not only for citizens but also for many visitors from abroad is the open-air festival in summer, taking place each year from beginning/middle of july till beginning/middle of september. Each evening, after sunset, you can join thousands when looking on a big screen movies of operas, operettas, concerts, ballets and sometimes even jazz concerts.
Beside the top-class, selected programme of the festival, there is a wide selection of food booths on the square. From noon till late at night you can enjoy specalities from different countries in the world.
